As landscape architects and designers, we primarily design master plans for our residential and commercial clients. A significant part of any master plan, or any landscape plan, is the hardscape design. The hardscape design is quite literally, the backbone to our projects.

In designing our projects, the landscape design is specifically structured to best complement the style of the property as well as thrive under the existing conditions. When it comes to the hardscape design, every structure is designed and built to serve a purpose. Walkways and pathways are incorporated to lead through gardens and alleviate food traffic from the lawn. This helps in an aesthetic purpose but to also preserve the growing grass and surrounding specimens. Retaining walls are also used to help the property, by correcting grade changes and containing soil and planting beds.

A landscape design requires proper care, maintenance, upkeep, and changes year after year. A hardscape design is a permanent fixture, that when done correctly will last for decades. From patios surrounding a swimming pool, to outdoor kitchens, to outdoor fireplaces, these hardscape elements enhance a property and are a long lasting investment. Decks, pergolas, garden statues, even driveways, are all key components to creating the ideal hardscape design for any property. This type of construction requires a great deal of craftsmanship and expertise, to ensure they are properly and safely constructed for homeowners and business owners alike.

In a master plan, every detail is taken into careful consideration to make sure the execution is accurate. From the specimens chosen for the landscape, to the location of planting in the garden, to the stones used for walkways, to the materials used in building kitchens; there is so much time and detail that goes into every project. The hardscape design comes into play for every project and it is a crucial one. It gives the property life and refines the landscape. Whether it is an outdoor kitchen that is providing a new lifestyle, or a small pathway that leads through hidden gardens, every hardscape element enhances and improves every project for a lifetime.
